Getting Started

Logging in, navigation, test mode vs. live mode, and switching accounts.

Getting started with the Briqpay Merchant Portal

The Merchant Portal is where you manage everything related to your Briqpay integration: which payment methods your customers see, how your checkout looks and behaves, your orders, your team, and your API credentials. This guide walks you through the layout of the portal and the concepts you need to understand before configuring anything.

Logging in

  1. Go to the Briqpay Merchant Portal at app.briqpay.com.
  2. Enter the email address and password for your merchant user account.
  3. If two factor authentication (2FA) is enabled on your user, you will be asked for a verification code from your authenticator app after entering your password.
  4. Once logged in, you land on the Dashboard (Home).

If you do not yet have a user account, ask an existing Admin on your merchant account to invite you (see the "Team, roles and account settings" guide), or contact Briqpay if you are setting up a brand new merchant account.

The main navigation

The left hand menu is where you access every part of the portal. The menu is organized into the following sections:

  • Home: your dashboard overview.
  • Insights: performance analytics for your payment setup.
  • Sessions: your orders and registrations.
  • Payment methods: configuring and displaying the payment options your customers can use.
  • Configuration: your checkout design, business rules and a preview tool.
  • Merchant: your team members, roles and account level settings.
  • Developers: your API keys.

Click the arrow icon at the top of the menu to collapse it into icon-only mode if you want more screen space.

Test mode vs. Live mode

At the top right of the portal you will find a Test mode toggle.

  • When Test mode is turned on, an orange "Test mode" banner is shown across the top of the page, and any orders, sessions or previews you create use test credentials and do not move real money.
  • When Test mode is turned off, you are working with your live, production account and real payment credentials.

Use test mode to configure and try out payment methods, checkout designs and rules before you switch them on for real customers. Because payment method configuration, display rules and checkout themes can all be set up independently in test mode, you can safely experiment there without affecting your live checkout.

Tip: build and verify your setup in test mode first, then repeat the equivalent configuration (or use "copy settings" where available) once you are ready to go live.

Switching between merchant accounts

If your user has access to more than one merchant account (for example separate accounts per brand or region), use the merchant selector in the top bar, next to the Test mode toggle, to switch between them. Every section of the portal (payment methods, configuration, orders, users, API keys) is specific to the merchant account you currently have selected.

Your user settings

Click the gear icon in the top right corner to open User settings, where you can:

  • Update your first and last name.
  • Enable or disable two factor authentication (2FA) for your own login.
  • Sign out of the portal.

We strongly recommend enabling 2FA on every user, and your account Admin can additionally require 2FA for all users on the merchant account from Merchant > Settings.

Where to go next

  • To start accepting payments, continue with Payment methods to connect and activate the payment options you want to offer.
  • To customize how your checkout looks and behaves, continue with Checkout and signup configuration.
  • To invite colleagues and control what they can see and do, continue with Team, roles and account settings.
