It's been a while since our last update, so this one covers more ground than usual: what we shipped across the platform in the first half of 2026, and what's coming for the rest of the year.
Volumes through the platform have nearly doubled since this time last year, and with the holiday season ahead we expect the second half to be bigger still. Growth at that pace puts real demands on the platform, so a good share of the first half went into making sure it keeps up, both in new features and in the groundwork underneath them.
We've built PSP Connect into the Merchant Portal, starting with Stripe, Mollie and PayPal. Instead of exchanging API keys over email, you authorise Briqpay against your provider account directly from the portal, once at organisation level if you run several brands. It's a small change on paper, but it removes one of the more manual, error-prone steps in getting a new provider live.
When you've captured part of an order and know the rest won't be shipped, you can now release the remaining authorisation in a single call, instead of leaving your customer's card or credit tied up until it expires on its own (five to thirty days, depending on the method).
Release Remaining is kept deliberately separate from Cancel, so you can't accidentally void an authorisation for items you've already shipped, or refund what you've already captured. It only ever touches the uncaptured part of the order. It works across Klarna, Mollie, PayPal and Resurs, and you can trigger it either through the API or directly from order management in the Merchant Portal.
A few smaller updates that are worth knowing about even if they didn't get their own headline:
Search across orders and sessions is now faster, and registrations have moved to the new list view. In the B2B payment module, you can now show all payment methods by default instead of gating them behind a company lookup, and a company registration number is no longer required either, which was previously blocking sole traders and some B2B flows.
We've also published new documentation on how the Merchant Portal works, which you can read here. Coming soon: every payment method will ship with a sensible default tagline, with your own overrides still available under Payment methods → Display.
A lot of the first half went into breadth, specifically. Here's what's new or extended by provider:
More options, less complexity for the merchants configuring them.
A rebuilt Litium 8 app (v2.0.1) resolves rounding and discount handling issues from the previous version. Get in touch if you're on Litium and want early access to the pilot. We've also released a Hyvä Checkout plugin for Magento 2, available at briqpay.com/plugins/hyva-checkout.
Our commercetools connector saw substantial work this half too: secondary webhook support, async callbacks on completion, HMAC-signed session reads, and a long list of cart and order fixes.
On settlements, it's early days: we're testing a way to standardise and consolidate settlement files from different providers into one format, aimed squarely at the reconciliation work that comes with running several providers side by side. More on this as it develops.
A few recent posts worth a read if you missed them the first time:
CCD2, 20 November 2026. Sweden's new Consumer Credit Act brings essentially all consumer credit, including interest-free BNPL splits, under full regulation. No more pre-selected credit options, real creditworthiness checks, and a SEKKI shown before checkout completes. If you offer BNPL or instalments in Sweden, this is worth raising internally now. We'll come back with specifics well before November, and there's already full detail in our CCD2 guide.
Peak season. Black Week and the holidays are next up, as always. We're running a dedicated reliability push through autumn, focused on making failures visible and recoverable instead of silent.
More markets. We're continuing to expand payment coverage outside the Nordics, including CEE and DACH, largely driven by merchants asking for specific local methods. Tell us what you need.
We know it's been longer than usual between updates. That's on us, and we're returning to a regular cadence from here. Thank you to the merchants and partners who keep choosing to build on Briqpay.
Litium has built one of the strongest B2B commerce platforms in the Nordics, and payment flexibility is a big part of that story. Here is what changed in the rebuilt 2.0 version of Briqpay's checkout app for Litium, and why platform openness matters more than ever for B2B merchants.
The UK's Commercial Payments Bill explained: the 60-day payment cap, mandatory 8% interest, new dispute deadlines, and what changes for any business that sells or buys on invoice terms.
Denmark's implementation of the EU Consumer Credit Directive (CCD2) takes effect 20 November 2026. Here's what changes for Danish e-commerce merchants, and why Denmark's approach is notably different from Sweden's.
